PermitsBeach Permits
Many of the beaches in the Macleay Valley Coast are suitable for beach driving but permits are required. The beach permits run for the whole of the financial year and cover the Kempsey, Nambucca and Hastings Shires. When purchasing a permit from Customer First at the Council's Civic Centre , Crescent Head Holiday Park, Grassy Head Holiday Park, Stuarts Point Holiday Park or Hat Head Holiday Park, have your registration number with you and ask for the Beach Permit Driving Brochure which outlines which beaches can be accessed, or download the details from the Kempsey Shire Website.
Fishing Licences
Fish Licences are required for all people over the age of eighteen years of age except Aborigines and old-age pensioners for both freshwater and saltwater fishing, for spear fishing, hand lining, hand gathering, trapping, bait collecting and prawn netting or when in possession of fishing gear in, on or adjacent to waters . People fishing are required to pay the New South Wales Recreational Fishing Fee and to carry the receipt from the payment. If you're planning to fish from a charter boat or go with a fishing guide, ask the operator if you're covered by their exemption certificate. When purchasing a fishing licence have a current driver's licence or passport with you. Licences can be puchased from the South West Rocks Shell Service Station and South West Rocks Boat Shed or go to the NSW Department of Primary Industries website for more agents.
