Dates for this years event are Sun 19th Sept to Sun 10th October. Normal Gaol entry fees apply: [$5.00 adults - $3.00 children] This year, a special school sculpture in the gaol will run for two weeks prior to the main event, beginning 28th August 2010.

Entries for the Sculpture in the Gaol close on 13th August, with a $25.00 entry fee. The announcement of the winners will be at Trial Bay Gaol on Sun 19th of Sept in conjunction with an event called "Karneval" which is being organised to commemorate 50 years since the rebuilding of the German monument by community members. On the day there will be a luncheon for invited guests only, there will be music, theatre, tours and special exhibitions in the Gaol that day for all members of the public to enjoy - normal gaol entry fees will apply.

Macleay Valley Relay for Life is a 19 hour outdoor team event with a festival atmosphere commencing at 2pm Saturday and is a family friendly overnight event and concluding around 9am Sunday. Teams of 10 to 15 people are invited to take turns walking around a track over this period.

The event honours those whose lives have been touched by cancer.Celebrate life and create hope by joining your friends, family and carers in a common goal of defeating cancer. The event brings the whole community together for a night of fun, entertainment, celebration and remembrance.

The Lime Kilm Walk at Kundabung will begin with everyone meeting on the corner of Smiths Creek Road and the Pacific Highway in their vehicles. It is recommended that the car be either 4 wheel drive or a large car with good clearance for the trip, to the walking track. It is also recommended that you wear solid, sound, enclosed footwear, that is comfortable, as the ground tends towards being uneven, rough and can include scrub. Kempsey West Public School celebrates its sesquicentenary in October 2010 and preparations are underway for a big weekend to celebrate the school's 150th Birthday. There will be a dinner-dance at the Kempsey Macleay RSL Club on Saturday the 16th October and all ex students and teachers are invited to attend.

On Sunday the 17th of October a picnic day will be held with a barbecue lunch and also displays about the history of the school in the hall.

Two books will be released, one about the history of the school by Christine Read and another which is a commemorative book by the Macleay River Historical Society.

The organizing committee is still looking for memorabilia about the school for display - old uniforms, badges, certificates etc. They would like people to do a short piece of writing about their school days. Any stories or items for the display can be left at the school, or emailed: kempseywst-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au
